You are Wrong.

My little sister Gloria is getting married July 12th in Georgia. I will not be there. I don’t feel safe traveling in this country anymore.
You want to believe it isn’t that bad. You want to think it can’t happen here. You want to pretend America is too special, too civilized, too free.
You are wrong.
This is how fascism takes root:
You gut institutions quietly, so the average person barely notices.
You slash funding to science, health, and education until nobody can tell fact from propaganda.
You flood the airwaves with lies so constant that the truth feels exhausting.
You criminalize poverty so you can police, fine, and imprison people into submission.
You normalize racism by calling it “patriotism.”
You stack the courts so no law can protect the people when the moment comes.
You dehumanize entire groups so no one cares when they disappear.
You make it so confusing and overwhelming that good people decide it’s easier to look away.
Trump did not build this alone.
Republicans built this deliberately. Democrats helped them do it.
Both parties stripped away safeguards over decades:
They voted to let corporations buy public land, poison water, and erase ecosystems.
They expanded surveillance, militarized police, and built the largest prison industry on earth.
They signed bills that let children be caged and families destroyed.
They quietly defunded education so an ignorant public could be led anywhere.
They called it compromise.
This country is not slipping into fascism by accident. It is being dragged there by both Republicans and Democrats—some who cheer, some who shrug, and some who wring their hands and say there’s nothing to be done but vote harder.
Why are Black men being found hanging from trees ruled “suicides”?
Because America never stopped lynching.
Because if those deaths were called what they are, racial terror, it would force white communities to admit they benefit from violence.
Because law enforcement is designed to protect whiteness first and last. It’s easier to label a body a suicide than to expose the same hatred that fueled the noose a hundred years ago.
Why did a white man in Idaho set fires and then open fire on firefighters?
Because in that town, firefighters once defended people of color.
They stopped white supremacists from driving out Black and brown families.
This was vengeance.
It was a message: If you stand up for the “wrong” people, you are next.
And look at the headlines: He isn’t a terrorist. He isn’t an extremist. He’s a “disturbed lone wolf.”
Because white killers always get the benefit of the doubt, mass shooters, school shooters...always get the benefit of the doubt.
This is not a series of accidents. It is a strategy.
You defund and dismantle every system that could protect ordinary people.
You sell off public resources to the highest bidder.
You erode faith in truth so lies can spread without resistance.
You keep people fighting over scraps so they never organize against their real enemy.
You build paramilitary police so no uprising can survive.
You rewrite laws so that dissent becomes terrorism.
You think your silence makes you neutral. It doesn’t.
You think not knowing shields you. It doesn’t.
You think your whiteness, your citizenship, your respectability will protect you. It won’t.
This is why fascism works:
Because you’re tired.
Because you’re scared.
Because you are more afraid of being uncomfortable than of letting people die.
Because it feels easier to argue semantics than to see the pattern right in front of you.
This is why it’s happening now:
Because the United States was built on genocide and slavery and never dismantled the machinery of that violence.
Because we pretend progress is permanent. It isn’t.
Because you were taught in school that fascism looks like a swastika, not a flag waving over a detention center.
Because you want to believe that if you keep your head down, you will be left alone.
If you think you can sit this out, you can’t.
If you think this is temporary, it isn’t.
If you think you’re safe, you are delusional.
Millions of acres of land are being sold to corporations who will strip them bare.
Public health systems are being dismantled in real time.
Climate disasters are worsening, and the warnings are defunded so you don’t even get notice before the flood comes.
Birthright citizenship is gone.
Due process is gone.
Naturalized citizens are already being deported.
Legal citizens are already being deported.
Children are being deported, alone.
This is not a drill. This is not hypothetical. This is not about politics.
It is about power. About control.
About how far people will go to protect white supremacy and corporate profit.
I said to myself, years ago--that if something like Nazi Germany ever happened again,
I would not be complicit.
I would fight.I would educate.
I would protect as many people as I could.
I would put my own life on the line for the truth and for real freedom—the kind where every human being is treated with dignity and rights, not just the ones who fit in the right box.
I so genuinely meant it.
I am telling you now: It is happening again. In plain sight.
Ask yourself why you don’t know these facts.
Because the news doesn’t tell you?
Because it’s too upsetting?
Because you don’t want to look racist?
Because you don’t want your friends to think you’re “too political?”
This is how fascism wins: Not with a single dictator, but with millions of ordinary people who decide it’s not their problem!!!!!!!!!!
When you look back—if you get to look back—ask yourself what you did when you knew.
Did you stand up?
Did you speak out?
Did you protect someone more vulnerable than you?
Or did you close your eyes and tell yourself it couldn’t be that bad?
This is the truth. No excuses. No denials. No hiding behind ignorance.
